The idea to have Planet Earth proclaiming that it “used to be cool” is an idea I’ve had floating around for a couple of years now, but what better way to produce it than in a jumbo mural! In the week or so since it’s been finished heaps of people have been taking their photo there, which is a lovely thought. Of course there’s something of a sad and scary truth behind the gag.
If you’re in the area do check it out, on Holland street, Fremantle, Western Australia.

A commission, a triptych, for a good friend.
FROM THE STUDIO
This painting is a commission for the excellent artist Emma Lipscombe. I have two much-loved Lipscombe artworks at home! The pup is a whippet named Pepper. And yes, I am fully aware that this isn’t my first hound artwork. They just seem to follow me around - the subjects that is, not the doggies themselves. Acrylic on board.

A few offerings for the exhibition in Fremantle, WA this month.
Exhibition
I’m very excited to be exhibiting with three of my favourite WA artists, in Emma Lipscombe, Penny Bovell and May Bluebell, next month at Post Irving in Fremantle. Come along!
NEW STUDIO
As of this month I have a wonderful new studio space to work in! By “studio” all I really mean is a shed in the garden, but I built it myself and hence it’s exactly what I need, and everything I love; concrete, plywood, enough space that I can run right back and view work at a distance, and of course natural light coming across my left shoulder. Love it.

Oh Patch, what a delightful sitter.
The now late Patch was the resident greyhound at Post Irving. A gentle giant.

THANK YOU
A huge thanks to everyone who attended, supported or purchased paintings at my recent A Very Brief History of Light Through Windows solo exhibition. I'm very chuffed to be able to say it was a sell-out show, with all but two sold on the opening night!

Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window? A new work for an upcoming exhibition.
LITTLEST EAGLE
An illustration commissioned by an expectant grandmother. They didn't know if little Felix was going to be a boy or girl, but they always knew his football allegiance.
MOVIE POSTER
The producers of Hounds of Love recently contacted me to ask if a second poster design of mine could be used for promotion in Australia and various international markets. It now looks like this design will be used as the DVD jacket cover too. Pretty cool. Also, this film is going gangbusters!
HOUNDS OF LOVE
What a treat to be asked to design a movie poster for Hounds of Love, a really excellent Australian film I was set decorator on earlier this year. My illustration here was plastered all over Venice for the world's most prestigious film festival, where the film was extremely well received.
RETURN TO AUST.

One last sale before heading south to Australia for a new adventure.
MILK TEETH
Here are a few photographs of the installation, Melke Tenner (Milk Teeth), that was part of the recent Shadow Tracing exhibition. I set out to create something that would work in harmony with the concrete and stone architecture of the surrounding WWII bunkers. These shapes also resemble another nearby relic of the Nazi occupation of Norway, "Hitler's teeth", a group of concrete blocks designed to prevent Allied forces from making landfall. My forms are cast from empty milk cartons, so the title has a delicious double meaning, haha.
NORWEGIAN LANDSCAPE
An artwork for Norway: a land of contrast, contradiction, unimaginable beauty and high-vis gear.
This is an installation of discarded high-visibility cloth and clothing, partially wrapping a century-old stone wall. To my mind these are quintessentially Norwegian visuals, but here also represent the country's cultural landscape; one of contrasts between old and new, tradition and innovation, conservation and affluence.
SONS OF GUNS
A print for a group of friends celebrating the births of six boys in a row.

Nice to see this little commission make it to the wall. "Frances" was a lovely sitter.
